From Our Own Correspondent Tennis Club Dance Successful Function On Friday evening the Sandon Town Hall was the scene of a very successful , llannel dance, visitors being present from j all parts of the district. Monte Carlo and other novelty dances added to the evening’s pleasure. Aluch of the success ; of the evening was due to the splendid j efforts of the club’s secretary, Miss Lily | Gedye, and an enthusiastic ladies’ com- ; mittee. School Footballers honour Mr K. Lumsden Opportunity was taken at the Sandon Tennis Club dance on Friday to make a presentation of a leatner pouch to Mr Keith Bumsdcii on benalf of the Sandon School rpgby fifteen. Air E. J. Bowater, a past chairman of the school committee, stated that the boys at the school felt very much indebted to him for the time he had given them in coaching and -they thought that much of their success in winning the championship honours was due to Mr Lumsden. -Mr Bumsden suitably replied. Tennis Match Playing in a strong gale, a team from the Carnarvon Tennis Club defeated the Sandon Club at the local club’s courts on Saturday afternoon Sandon was some-i what handicapped by being short of lady I players, and a noticeable feature of the game was Carnarvon’s success in winning all singles. Bumsden and P. Gedye 6—2. Mixed Doubles: Aiiss R. Hill and R. Glovn beat Aiiss G. Sanson and S’. L. Kent ti—2. -Miss -M. Scott and D. W. Burn lost to Aiiss B. Bumsden and D. Hammond s—ti, Mrs Dixon and B. Ingram lost to Aiiss B. Gedye and Al. Alullany 4—ti, Aiiss J>. Burne and G. H. Burne lost to Airs Gibbons and J. Williamson 2—6, Airs Gibbons and J.
