Apiti
Mr. W. T. Pratt, a well-known Apiti farmer, has recently imported some Dorset-horn ewes and a ram from Austialia. The sheep arrived in good condition from New South Wales about ten days ago and it is Mr. Pratt’s intention to exhibit three ewes at the Feilding Show this week. Borries appeal to be \ery busily engaged at present carting out large numbers of fat lambs from this district. Owing to the unsettled weather on Saturday morning the Uaythorne Cup match between the Apiti and Rangiwahia Tennis Club teams was postponed. Anyone who can skilfully handle a ha> fork is Just now being called upon lo lend a hand in the hay fields, as no time Is being lost in getting the crops stacked Bach season one hears of minor mishaps to the stackers, these injuries often being from the hay forks of those Who have not been shown the correct method of using their forks. Of course accidents will happen but there are occasions when, with the exercise of reasonable care, the men on the stacks may be spared scratches and torn garments. Personal. Airs. George Watkins, with her two younger sons, has gone to spend a week at Alanawatu Heads. Mr. and -Mrs. A. F. Fitzgerald and family, who have been staying with -Mrs Duncan, senr., will return to Gisborne this week. Airs. W. K. Pratt, who recently underwent an operation at the Feilding private hospital, is now making good progress and her many friends will Join in wisning her a speedy return to good health. Mrs. Perry, of Feilding, conducted the service in the Apiti Aletliodist Church on Sunday evening and her address was followed with close attention by the congregation which was mostly of young people.
