New Domestic Pet is Science in the Kitchen
An Australian scientist, Dr. Edgar Booth, laments the fact that science is busy making discoveries which tho world is not able to use for its greater happiness. Perhaps the inventors arc aiming too high. An unsinkable battleship or an “uncrasliable” aeroplane may be all right, but there are still opportunities nearer home. Just now overseas scientists are busy eliminating the dustman and his bin. Instead of tho usual receptacle under the kitchen we are to have a sort of electric dragon which will consume the domestic refuse. This new kitchen pet, in a strange new world, will have an appetite for sardine tins, egg-shells and cabbage leaves. This is the sort of invention women are looking for. In fact, the scientist inventor would be an ideal handyman about the house to remove or improve old-fashioned and outmoded ideas.
