Carnival Raises £350

MISS M. CHADWICK CROWNED AS MAORI QUEEN (Special to “Times”) HASTINGS, Jan. 30. A total of about £350 was raised in the Maori Queen Carnival which con eluded last night in the Assembly hull Hastings, when the Coronation ball was held. When tho Bishop of Aotearoa lit. Rev. F. A, Bennett, made the an nouncement from tho stage of the hah there was a prolonged burst of applausi from the large crowd gathered there, both pakeha and Maori, who were gratified at the success of the carnival. This money will bo dovoted fo tho marae and church building at Kohupatiki.
