DRIVER SENT TO GAOL. DANNEVIRKE, Jan. 30. ■ As a sequel to a shopping flight accident in Main street, Timothy Augustus Tcahan, farmer, of Tiratu, was sentenced to-day to three weeks’ hard labour for being drunk in charge of a car. Ilis licence was cancelled and ho was prohibited from driving for two years. When attempting to leave a parking stand Teahan’s car mounted one footpath, swerved across the road to tho other, and crashed into the island window of a shop, wrecking it. The car then proceeded along the footpath until it collided with a telegraph pole. Nobody was hurt, but there were some narrow escapes.
