Woodville Fatality

OPEN VERDICT RETURNED At the adjourned inquest, held at Woodville, into the death of Mr Robert Wright, retired stock inspector, who was accidentally killed in McLean street on the afternoon of December 12 through being knocked down by a taxicar, driven by Mr. H. McNeil. The Coroner, Mr. Walter Dobson, returned an open verdict. Constable L. Skinner represented the Crown; Mr H. C. Bailey appeared for the driver of the car, and Mr B. P. Hopkins, of the Public Trust Office, for the Public Trustee (who is administering the estate of the deceased) and also for the widow. The coroner mentioned that the matter of adequate provision for pedestrians crossing the road would no doubt be gone into in due course with the authorities concerned. No Rider. Mr Bailey: Are you prepared to add any rider? The coroner: No.
