Charming Bride of the Week

PAGE—EIKTH. A very pretty wedding was solemnised by Rev. Mr H. W. Page at the Baptist Church, Feilding, on Wednesday, January 27. The contracting parties were Molly Evelyn, elder daughter of Mr and Mrs G. C. Firth, of Te Arakura, and Frank Reginald, younger son of Rev. Mr H. W. Page and Mrs Page, of Feilding. The wedding music was played by Mrs H. Bowater, aunt of the bride, the hymn, ‘‘The Voice that Breathed O'er Eden," being sung during the ceremony. The bride, who entered the church on the arm of her father, looked charming in a simple gown of cream windswept georgette. The bodice had insets of lace and silver with long very full sleeves arranged in flat pleats at shoulder. A silver girdle was worn at the waist and the skirt fully flared, the .train having insets of lace to match the bodice. A lovely veil of embroidered tulle and lace (lent by an aunt, Mrs F. Shirley) was arranged with a lace halo. White satiu shoes completed her toilette and she carried a beautiful sheaf of liliurn auratum and callidium .with silvered ferns and maidenhair and cream satin streamers. The bridesmaids’ dresses were fashioned alike in georgette, the bodices having cowl necks and long, full sleeves, being draped and buttoned closely down the back with satin buttons. The skirts were long and fully-flared, each maid wearing a wide satin belt. With these were worn shoes and ring halos to match. The chief bridesmaid, Miss Edna Bowater, a cousin of the bride, chose soft salmon pink and carried a bouquet in deeper tones. Miss Jean Page, sister of the bridegroom, wore lemon yellow with bouquet !to tone, and Miss Flossie Carlisle, a friend of the bride, was gowned in pale green with a bouquet of pale pink. Two little flower girls, Audrey Firth, sister of the bride, and Beryl Firth,: cousin, wore ankle-length dresses of cream georgette with capes, rosettes with touches of silver on the skirts, and plaited cream and silver bandeaux. They carried pink floral armlets. The church had been artistically do* corated with bowls of pink hydrangea and gladioli in colours to tone with the dresses of the wedding party. On leaving the church the bride was presented with a silver and floral horseshoe by her cousin, little Muriel Shirley.

The duties of best man were carried out by Rev. Mr T. R. Page, of Invercargill, brother of the bridegroom. The reception following was held at the Parish hall, where a large number of guests were received by Mrs G. C. Firth, assisted by Mrs H. W. Page. Mrs Firth was wearing a floral autumn toned frock with brown marocain coat and brown straw hat with berries, and she carried a bouquet in autumn tones. Mrs Pago wore light navy georgette with navy straw hat, her bouquet being of crimson and heliotrope shades. The bridegroom's presents to the bridesmaids were crystal powder bowls. After the ceremony the bridal party graciously posed for many friends anxious to secure snapshots. Among the many guests present were Mrs C. Blomfield, of Auckland, grandmother of the bridegroom, who wore black satin with a black satin coat with ostrich feather collar and black hat relieved with lemon flowers, and Mr J. WTatt, of Feilding, grandfather of the bride; Mrs C. J. Bennett (Ongarue), Mrs F. Shirley (Matamata), Mrs E. Firth (Paeroa), Mr and Mrs J. H. Bennett (Te Arakura), Miss Elsie Wratt (Feilding), Mr and Mrs H. Bowater (Feilding), aunts and uncles of the bride, and Mrs T. R. Page (Invercargill). sister-in-law of the bridegroom. A sheaf of congratulatory telegrams from all parts of the North Island was read during the reception. The beautiful wedding cake had been made and presented by Mrs J. Thurston, a cousin of the bride’s mother, and the bridal sheaf and bouquets were made by Te Arakura friends of tho bride.

Mr and Mrs F. R. Page left by car; the bride wearing a navy ensemble relieved with white, navy hat and matching accessories. Their future home will be at Dargaville, North Auckland.
