Necessity for Clean Powder Puffs

In Paris a distinction is drawn between the 10 shades of powder intended for the use of tho young girl, the 20-year-old, and 20 shades from which the woman of 30 and over can make her choice, states an exchange. Powders for the latter ago are either in tho aprTcot tint for the fair haired woman, the flushed ivory for tho medium brunette, or a deep peach tan for the black haired type. Green powder is now used to whiten hands as well as faces.

Beauty specialists try to persuade the young girl to uso a lighter tan shade by day that is suitable for young skin, and an evening powder with a distinct- I ly rose-pink tone. Pale rouges of the ashes of roses type, caramel peach and pink gold are novelties from a beauty salon, for women do not like the hard appearance of the usual powder rouge. Successful powdering may be said to depend on the cleanliness of the puff, the use of two powders of different shades, and the quality of the powder. Some women use little prepared squares of cotton wool for applying- their powder, each square being used, of course, once only, life a face tissue. Another alternative to the powder puff is to have a tiny powder brush, made from the soft white fur of the stomach of squirrels, with which the surplus powder is lightly flicked off the face after a swansdown puff has been used. When two shades of powder are used on the face it is a cardinal rule that the lighter shade should go first iu order to be next to the skin, while the darker shade is dusted on top, the only exception to this being in tho case of very sallow-skinned women.
