Miss D. Southey Baker has returned to Palmerston North after a visit to the Waikato and Auckland.
Mrs. Iv. L. Cousins, of Wellington, is a visitor to Palmerston North as the guest of Miss B. Hawkins.
Mr and Mrs W. Appleton, Feilding, are visiting Wellington for Miss Irene Cotton’s wedding and are the guests o* Mrs A. B. Moores, Karorl.
Miss J. Grant, of Hastings who has been visiting Palmerston North lett this week to join her sister, Mrs Bobs Cowper and family at Akiteo beach.
Mrs. M. Lamont (Masterton) is visiting her mother, Mrs. E. L. Christian, city librarian, and Miss Enid Christian has also returned home from Hawke’s Bay.
Dr. Elizabeth Bryson, who has returned to Wellington after a seven months’ visit to England, said that women doctors in England are now firmly established, and were entering every branch of the profession. As for Eng land generally, it was very prosperous and not unduly perturbed by world events. New Zealand was the one that was uncertain and depressed. In London Dr. Bryson stayed at Crosby Hall, the famous international houso for Univers ity students. Her room looked over the Thames Embankment at Chelsea, and its beautiful furniture was chosen by Queen Maud of Norway. About 52 women were iu residence at the time, and all met freely without formality. At one meeting in the houso Dr. Bryson heard Miss Frances Melville, president of the British Federation of University Women, give an account of the international conferenco at Krakow, in Poland.
