Pahiatua District High School

On Tuesday evening the monthly meeting of the Pahiatua District High School committeemen met, there being present Messrs G. Godfrey Taylor (chairman), W. H. Murch (secretary), W. J. Mills, G. L. Chatwin and E. H. Lett. The headmaster (Mr T. Clarke?) also attended. Mrs E. M. Staples, the school caretaker, tendered her resignation on account of ill-health. It was decided to invite applications for the position.

The approval of the Education Board is to be asked for the construction on tho grounds of a playing sand pit for the infant children, also the coating with a waterproof dressing of whitewash the kerbing of the school grounds. If the board approves of the work, which must be done before the end of March, the committee has been advised that a special grant may be obtained. Accounts amounting to £8 19s 3d were passed or payment.

Mr E. H. Lett was authorised to arrange for a man to work on the grounds as required. It was agreed that several names be added to the honours board.
