Wedding Bells

HATHAWAY—HESP. At the Presbyterian Church on Tuesday afternoon a wedding of considerable local interest took place when Sarah Ann, youngest daughter of Mr and the late Mrs Hesp, of Awatoto, was married to Donald Wilke, youngest son of Mr and Mrs B. Hathaway, of Pahiatua, by tho Rev. Davie, of Masterton. The organist was Mr J. E. Macdonald, and the church was tastefully decorated with hydrangeas and dahlias by relatives of the bride. The bride, who was given away by Mr J. C. Priest, wore a moracain frock cut on classical lines with train, and a veil (lent by a cousin) and she carried a bouquet of white carnations, St. Joseph's lilies and asparagus fern.

The bridesmaids, Miss Joan Paget (chief), a niece of the bridegroom, and Miss Mary Macdonald (cousin of the bride), wore matalesse frocks of maize colour with green sash, similar to that of the bride, with puff sleeves, pleated collars and shirred bodice. They had silver shoes and headbands plaited in green maize and silver. They carried bouquets of gladioli, roses and fern.

Messrs P. M. Priest and Trevor Paget acted as best man and groomsman respectively. There were some sixty guests at the reception (held at Mangamutu), where they were received by Mrs J. E. Macdonald, who wore navy blue floral rice crepe, with coatee. The bridesgroom's mother wore floral crepe-de-chenc, with coatee, and carried a bouquet of dark pincushions and greenery. Guests came from as far afield as Christchurch, Havelock North, New Plymouth, and Palliser Bay. - Rev. Davie presided over the reception.

Later the happy couple left by car for Wellington, the bride travelling in a grey ensemble of Morocco crepe, relieved with white and cerise and white accessories. Their future home will be in Pahiatua. Numerous useful and ornamental presents were received. During the reception Mr J. E. Macdonald obliged with vocal items.
