THE INSPECTOR OF NUISANCES' REPORT.

TO THB EDITOB. Sib, — In reading the report of tibe. meeting of the Borough" Council m yonrissue of Saturday last, I was much surprised to see tliat the Inspector of Nuisances had reported my yards as being m " a filthy state." No doubt, during these heavy rains, there -is any amount of water both m and out of them, but no more filth than m other places. True, the report states that there is nothing of any importance -to notice at present j but what I ask could be of greater importance £o me as a butcher ; and further, the Council think it of such importance that they order the immediate removal of my present slaughter-house and refuse my application for a license to slaughter on section No. 389, or any pther place within the boundary of this Borough. Now, Sir, the said Bection (whioh I secured for the purpose) contains over 50 acres, on .the; verge of the Borough opposite the .boundary, and is undoubtedly the best site m the neighborhood, either m the Borough or out of it. At the time I leased it I believed it to be outside the boundary, and it is so near it that it could make no possible difference. Two years ago the then Inspector of Nuisances visited my present place and suggested the cutting of a ditch, which I out accordingly, and which, now stands: full of: Water, for which there is no outlet, and which, outlet must be made outside of my land, and is consequently out of my reach. I could write lots more, but no doubt, you will think that this has already taken, enough of your valuable space.— l am, &c., . EOBEET MACKIB. ralmerston, July IGth, 1878.
