FridayCurtis, m 'addressing electors, said Grey's friends deceived him by saying Grey would support new Government without being a member of it, but as soon as "Atkinson was turned out, they insisted Grey should form Ministry. Grey being an avowed Separationist ought not to be trusted .with government of country^ One who could be guilty of such extravagance as was shown m bombarding and superintendent-poisoning correspondence was not fit to be premier. [Referring to Grey's action re Land Bill, he said it was trying to make an instrument of the Governor* and was a piece of despotic tyrannyi The proposal to reduce Minister's salaries was insincere. - He- defended Atkinson against charge of indecent haste to return to office. If he was to blame so were all his party.
