FEILDING BOWLING CLUB.

SEASON OPENED. .The Feilding Bowling Club opened its new season on Saturday, when the weather, although not altogether fine, was sufficiently so to enable games to bo played. Since the club closed its greens ’ last autumn much work has beeil accomplished; the greens have been topdressed and general improvements carried out under the direction of the president (Mr It. Burne). Among the improvements are the formation of a substantial concrete path and the reflooring of the pavilion. Several members of the club stated that they have never seen the greens in better heart, while visitors also congratulated the club. Visitors were present from the Hokowhitu, Terrace End, Takaro, Oroua, and Manawatu Clubs. Mr Burne extended a welcome to the visitors and stated that the Feilding bowlers were keen to make a start. Despite the petrol restrictions, the club was hopeful of having a successful season. The ladies were thanked for providing afternoon tea. The ladies’ bowling green was also declared open and the president of the men's club extended wishes for a successful season. The Feilding Ladies’ Croquet Club, which opened its season oil Saturday, conducted several competitions the winners of which were:—French (Mrs Hayward’s trophy), Mrs F. Fidler, angles (Mrs Jarrett’s trophy). Mis Bowles (Oroua Club) ; ladder (Mrs A. .E. Rodgers’s trophy), Mrs H. White; golf (Mrs J. Edclstcn’s trophy), Miss I. Bartholomew. Afternoon tea was served in the pavilion, Mrs F. J. Jones being responsible for the decorations executed in the .club’s colours. Mrs F. Moore played the first ball through the hoop to open the season.
