CRICKET RECESS.

The Woodville Cricket Club, ,the annual meeting of which was ' held last week, discussed the season’s prospects and decided to go into recess for one year, it being evident that it would be unable to put a team in tho field. Regret was expressed at the necessity for this action, it being stated that this was' the first break of the kind in the long history of the club. The chairman (Mr J. Charles) expressed the club's good wishes for the success of Mr T. S. Bolton (club captain), wholis leaving to take up service in the R.A.F., and appreciation of Mr Bolton's services to the club was placed on record. The balance sheet presented by Mr P. Burlacc disclosed a healthy state. The mooting approved of a donation of 10s to the Kindred Sports Fund, and votes of thanks were passed to Mrs Charles for providing afternoon tea at all games, the auditor (Mr F. D. Mackie), the Borough Council for rare of the grounds; and the umpires.
