(From Our Own Corresnondent.) HALCOMBE, Sent. 27.
During Sep’embor the Halcombe Women's Patriotic Committee delivered the following goods to Zone F, headquarters: 8 balaclavas, 13 scarves, 15 pairs mittens, 18 pairs socks, 2 pairs bed socks, 1 pair slippers. 2 surgeons’ towels, 29 face cloths; 4 hospital bass, and two hotwater bag covers. In addition to these the Stairway Sewing Guild forwarded a parcel containing 20 hold-alls, 9 ditty bags, 2 pairs socks and 1 pair mittens. A parcel containing 32 articles of clothing for refugees was delivered to the Lady Galway Guild at Feilding. A euchre and dance gathering was held i by the Halcombe Football Club as a benefit for one of their members. Air Jonas Hughes, who was injured during the season. Euchre prizes wore won bv Airs AV. Carter;' lucky spol, Ali?s At. Clapham and partner. Air R. Dais was Af.C. Air G. Burgess (president) thanked all those who had assisted the club in their activities. Old, honey lace; T. Old, pink floral; G. Parsons, cyclamen satin; J. Thow, cyclamen taffeta; T. AJilcs, pink taffeta; M. Clapham, black velvet; AT. Clapham, black laffota; M. Alason, D. ATcNac, D. Alanagh; J: Rosser. black gdorgettc; and P. Blundcn. The second round of the ladies’ golf championships will be played this weekend. Mrs G. Nicol and Airs L. Fcrgusson were the respective winners of the senior and junior competitions. The results of the championship matches played wore: Senior, Airs G. Nicol boat Miss J. Forgusson; junior, Airs L. Fcrgusson beat Airs L. Davies, Airs J. Fcrgusson boat Mrs N. Ashworth, Airs L. Alillor. beat. Aliss P. Fcrgusson, Airs R. Elgar won by default from Mies B. Fcrgusson.
