Sir, —The Hawke’s Bay Education Board, referring to the influence of radio thrillers on our children, brings forward also a suggestion from the Napier Headmasters' Association. This is that the Minister of Education be asked to introduce legislation to prohibit children of school age from attending films bearing an A certificate. That such an elementary safeguard is not already operating is surely a, sign of national apathy. 1 have always felt that the attitude of the cinema proprietor could be summed up as “Recommended for Adults Only; Children Gd.” Perhaps that of parents is even worse, for they send their children off to the “flicks” on Saturdays regardless of the programme. —I am, etc., NEW ZEALAND AIOTHER,
