Mr R. A. Austin, who for some years past has been connected with a Pahiatua legal firm, has severed his connection with it and will leave shortly to enter the Air Force. Each week a number of ladies meet at the Bor ough Council Chambers, where the clothing for adults and children of all sizes is "packed prior to early despatch to headquarters in Wellington. At the annual meeting of the Pahiatua Cricket Club, Mr C. ■ C.f Smyth presided until Mr J. M. Sandman took the chair on being elected president. Tho report, which was adopted, stated that for the second timo in succession the club annexed the Bush Cricket Association’s Championship Cup. The prospects for the coming season are quite good. Three club members gained Bush representative honours. The balance-sheet showed a credit balance of £6. The election of officers resulted: Patron, Airs A!. D. Cornelius; president, AIL J. Sandman; - vice-presidents, 15 were elected; secretary, Air L. Ilicken; captain, Air K. C. Alontgomery; vice captain, Air J. McKay;' club captain, Mr A. .Mills; delegates to Bush association, Alessrs Montgomery and R. Mills; practice committee, captain, club captain, R. J. Gregory -and Al. G. Fletcher. In accordance with the donor’s wish that the presentation bat be given to the young player who showed both enthusiasm and improvement during the past season, the trophy was awarded to L. F. Barraclough.
