ATLANTIC DISASTER.

ILL-FATED SHIP NAMED

(T!ec 11.20 a.m.) LONDON, Sept 24. The ship carrying evacuated children which was torpedoed in the Atlantic on September 17 was the City of Benares (11,000 tons). The sinking of the City of Benares has deterred only a few parents desiring to send their children overseas. There have been a few withdrawals, but The Children’s Overseas llcprntintion Scheme continues to receive new applications daily. The Cabinet’s Home Affairs .Committee is meeting shortly to discuss the future of the scheme, hut it is most likely that the evacuation will continue if the parents are willing to send the children despite the risks. The final decision rests with the Cabinet.
