LONDON ARRANGEMENTS

(British Official Wireless.) (Bee. 11.40 a.m.) RUGBY, Sept, 24. Every second child of the London area is at present accommodated in a country district and a further evacuation plan for the capital has now been announced by the Minister of Health (Mr Malcolm MacDonald). The total number of children ot school age who have already been evacuated is 404,000, and 428,000 still remain. The present facilities include provision for the evacuation of school children and homeless children of any age with their mothers, but these are to be extended to include mothers with children of aiiv age, whether homeless or not. The scheme is anplicable in the first instance to certain ot the most, hard-pressed areas. The mothers in these areas are being asked to register at food and rest centres.

BERLIN DAMAGE ADMITTED.

(Reo. 11.20 a.m.) BERLIN, Sept. 24. A communique states: “Our- bombers attacked London by night a.nd strong fires were observed near the Milhvall and India docks,-also near Whitehall. Hyde Park and elsewhere. Large fires were started at Liverpool. We bombed Cambridge as a reprisal for the bombing of Hesselberg. •‘British planes last night caused damage to the outskirts ot Berlin. Several civilians were killed and injured, but there was no military damage. The enemy yesterday lost 2o planes and six of ours are missing. • A Rome communique states: We again bombed Mersa Matruh successfully. The British bombarded Tobruk and Bardia, but only slight damage was done. We bombed the Port Sudan aerodrome and also attacked the Aden airport. The British bombed a number of our aerodromes including those at Gura, Diredawa, Adiugri and bciasciamanna.
