DAMAGE IN ENGLAND
TUESDAY’S ATTACKS

During this morning two enemy formations, consisting of bombers escorted by large numuers of fighters, made attacks across the Kentish coast and in the area of the Thames ltstuary. Neither force penetrated to London. Some bombs were dropped on Thames-side towns and a number ot districts of East Kent. Damage was caused to houses and buildings, b'lt the number of casualties was small. Early in the afternoon an enemy attack was made in the Southampton area. Some buildings were damaged and a number of casualties- caused. The enemy activity was not on a large scale, but in attacks by single aircraft bombs were dropped in a number of districts, including Brighton. Damage was caused to bouses and business premises and a number ot casualties are reported. Of four of our fighters lost the pi ots of two are safe. It is now established that two eriemv bombers were shot down by anti-aircraft guns on Monday night.
