WOMEN’S INSTITUTES.

MANAWATU FEDERATION

' The executive committee of the Mannwatu Federation of Women’s Institutes met this week, Miss M. Grant presiding. . Also present were ; Mesdames T. D. Lynch (Linton), W. M. AlcClelland (Kairanga), D. Scott (Aokautere), T. E. Collins, W. Churchill (Rongotea), E. Dymock (Milson), also Airs F. McKay, voluntary organiser. Airs H. V. Cavcrhill sent an apology for absence and her thanks for flowers received in her recent indisposition. Reports of patriotic undertakings by the institutes showed gratifying work and those in the Kairanga County area had sent in 40 parcels. The financial statement was presented by Airs Collins. It was resolved to send £ls from the calendar fund to headquarters asking that it be devoted to the fund for the relief of distress in England. It was reported that all hut one institute had paid affiliation fees. Dominion Federation contributions were received from Tiritea, Koputaroa and Shannon, Alanawatu Federation contributions from Tiritea, Koputaroa and Opiki; and affiliation fees from Opiki, Tiakitaliuua, Shannon and Ashliurst. The question of making a collection of eggs to send overseas was considered and it was resolved to make inquiries and complete the matter at the half-yearly council meeting arrangements for which were also made. A report was received from Mrs AlcKay on the school for voluntary organisers held at Woodvillo in August. Consideration was given to the meeting te be held in Palmerston North to elect nine members to servo on the district committee of the Women’s War Service Auxiliary,- Mesdames T. Lynch and E. Dymock were appointed delegates with power to act, and a nomination was also - made for a committee member.
