BUNNYTHORPE

(From Our Own Correspondent.) BUNNYTHORPE, Sept. 16. The friends of Mrs Godfrey, senr., will regret to know she is an inmate of a hospital, suffering from a fall which injured her Jog. Mr A. Gee. who has been an inmate of the Hospital owing to a broken leg, is expected homo at an early date. The Young People’s Society hold a dance in the Hall, there being a large attend-, ance, that made the function most successful. The school sports team beat Taonui at basketball by 10 goals to 4, and at football by 27 points to 3. The September meeting of the Women’s Institute was presided over by Mrs A. 11. Faulkner, there being a large attendance. New members were Miss Sparrow and Mrs Topper. A transfer from Bulls was Mrs Payne. Apologies for absence were received from Mrs M. Dona'd, Mrs Baker, Mrs Tomlinson and Miss Sinclair. • It was decided to hold the annual flower show in February. Mrs Donald and Mrs Entwisle were appointed to attend the council meeting in October. A Christmas parcel has been forwarded to all local soldiers serving overseas, and also several unaddressed ones have been despatched. Mrs A. Currie gave a pleasing and instructive demonstration on mantol vase decoration and Mrs Harris a recitation. Results of competitions wore: —Best bloom, Mrs Leetc senr. 1. Mrs L. Leetc 2; sponge roll, Mrs Williamson 1, Mrs Harris 2, Mrs Bickncll 3; collection spring flowers, Airs Harris 1, Mrs Leetc 2, Mrs Weastcll 3. Mrs C. Lassen celebrated her 80th birthday when all the family gathered for the occasion. Many telegrams were received congratulating Mrs Lassen who has resided in Bunnythorpc for over fifty years. Mr J. G. Duthic, of Auckland, is the guest of Mr and Mrs W. B. Duthic. Prizes were won by Mrs McKenzie (ladies’) and Mr Allorby (men's) at the last euchre tournament. Mr A. Clark, of Wellington, has been visiting his parents, Mr and Mrs E. Clark.
