HOSPITAL PATIENTS.

OCCUPIED BED DATE. It was stated by the medical superintendent of the Palmerston North Hospital (Mr J. H. ivortn) in a report to tne Hospital Board to-day, that the average daily rate of occupied beds in the Hospital during August, 244.6, was the highest yet recorded. The work in all departments of the institution had also increased, and the out patient department’s work had been added to by both military cases and consultant clinics.. . . The X-ray department, in addition to the increase of ordinary work, 'had dealt with over 2700 military chest X-rays and this work was still being carried out. The question of X-ray equipment for both the Palmerston North Hospital and that a t o,ln had been discussed with the Health. Department and a full report would be prepared on the needs of the two institutions, Mr North added.
