WAGE INCREASE.
EXEMPTIONS DECLINED.
WELLINGTON, Sept. 16. Three applications for exemption and one for partial exemption from the General Order which increased award wages by 5 per cent have been refused by the Court of Arbitration in a reserved judgment delivered by JMr Justice Tyndall. Applications for exemption were made by employers bound by the New Zealand Bakers’ and Pastrycooks’, and their Labourers’ Award, the New Zealand Local Bodies (Rural) Labourers’ Award, and the New Zealand Lime Workers’ ' Award. An application for partial exemption was made by the New Zealand Federated Labourers’ and Related Trades’ Industrial Associations of Workers. As this application related to workers coming within the scone of the New' Zealand Local Bodies’ (Rural) Labourers’ Award, the two applications were heard together.
