WEEK-END TRAINING.

COLONEL’S VISIT.

The Feilding Territorial Company was engaged in training operations at the racecourse during the week-end, the company being undqr the command oi Captain D. Ferguson. Yesterday the training commenced at 9 o’clock and shortly before 10 o’clock LieutenantColonel Lilburne, Officer Commanding the Wellington-West Coast Itegiment, paid a visit and watched the operations, comprising company drill, bayonet and rifle exercises and physical exercises. Luncheon was taken at 1 o'clock and Lieut.-Colonel Lilburne had a talk with the troops and expressed his satisfaction with the progress being made with the training at Feilding. Ho was pleased to see that the work was being taken seriously and said that the Territorials comprised an important defence arm. Lieut-Colonel Lilburne was accompanied by Lieutenant Cross and the Mayor (Mr T. L. Seddon).
