WOMEN’S INSTITUTE.

At the monthly meeting of the Kume-roa-Hopelands Women’s Institute, Mrs B 11. Norman presided. It was arranged to hold the annual birthday party in October; Mrs G'ranfiold kindly offered to make the cake and Mrs Power to ice it. Mesdames Bond and Miller agreed to pack the four parcels to be sent away to the soldiers. Members were asked to bring articles to the next meeting to be . forwarded to the secretary of the leper island appeal. A welcome was extended to live members horn Mangamutu. Mrs J.. Heayns gave a most useful demonstration on barbola work. She had some very dainty articles on view. . A vote of thanks was accorded her. Tho competitions tor the day were: —Decorated howl of spring flowers, Miss J. Bridges 1, Mrs W. J. Miller 2: bulbs in jam jar, Mrs Norman 1, Miss D. Mabey 2: best bloom, Miss J. Bridges 1, Mrs Power 2. The hostesses were Misses Mabey, Crowfield and Bridges.
