CHEESE PRODUCTION.
The change-over of dairy farthers frem butter to chccsc factories is almost completcd as far as Woodvillo and distnct a concerned. The only factory yet to bo-fully supplied is tile Woodvillo factory and it is expected that following a canvass ot supplifcrs which will be earned out within a few days the. vats of this factory wil also be fuil. Suppliers who are approached by the various officers are asked to give u co-operation. There are numerous dithculties yet to be overcome and these were discussed at a recent meeting o the representatives from the V\ oodvillo United factories in Woodvillo. Mr J. JWalker (dairy Inspector) was .present as well as'Mr Rankin (farm dairy instructor), who reported on the various suppliers liable to change over. The main difficulties appeared to be that many butter factory suppliers were naturally carrying a numbci of calves and pigs. Mr Rankin had visited farmers running up to. 126 cows. In manj of these cases the moving of cans f rom 1 ° sheds to the read presented a formidable problem. It was suggested by Mr Harding that the farmers could easily convoy their supply this far themselves. Hie majoi trouble with the changc-ovcr was the question of transport. Mr Young stated that if the onus was on suppliers in other districts to deliver their milk to the fachf r 7 it should be so in the case of W °°dvi e. The meeting closed with a decision to further canvass the aria in the \ icinitj o the factory and delivery would be arranged to the company’s satisfaction.
