A vessel i 6 scheduled to arrive in New Zealand prior to, the wheat harvest. The Minister draws the attention of importers of jute goods to the fact that there is virtually no possibility of the usual March-April steamer being available for direct shipment to New Zealand in 1941. As a result of the negotiations with Britain it has been agreed to direct shipments from Calcutta. These will bo sufficient to supply New Zealand’s annual requirements. The vessels will, it is anticipated, leave about the middle and the end ot next year. The Minister also urged manufacturers and others to utilise second-hand sacks to the greatest degree possible.
