ST. BRIGID’S CLUB
The eighth annual meeting of St. Brigid’s Tennis Club was held last evening, Rev. Father Broughton presiding. The report (already published) and the balance-sheet were received, the latter showing that the income from subscriptions was lower than last year’s by £7, while the credit balance was £l2 lower than last year’s, due to extraordinary expenditure. Commenting on the report, tile chairman said that the club was .in a very sound position and was only indebted to the extent of £27 in respect of debentures. It was the aim of the club to extend its facilities to members as finances permitted. He recommended that the credit balance he built up in order that further improvements could be carried out without hardship to members. The committee and the secretary were to be congratulated upon the able manner in which the affairs of the club had been conducted. The statements were adopted. “We very much regret his departure, but at the same time we arc very proud of him.” said the chairman m referring to the president (Lieutenant P. Delehanty), who is at present at Burnham Military Camp. Mr Delohantv had the good wishes of the members, and Father Broughton was confident that Mr Delehanty would keep in touch with the club. It was decided to place on record the valuable services of the president. The" following officers were elected : Patron, llev. Father Broughton; president, Mr T. Kelly; vice-president, Mr G. McLeod ; treasurer, Mr H. T. Hassell; auditor. Mr D. C. Cullinane; secretary, Miss G. Christie; club captain, Mr Kelly; vice-captain, Mr P. Hassell; committee, Mrs P. Hassell, Misses P. Carrigan, B. Bongo, Messrs S. Sinkinson, P. Rush and H. Morris; publicity officer, Miss P. Hughes. A letter was received from Mr Delehanty extending his wishes for a successful . season. It was announced that Miss P Macßeynolds, who had been secretary of the club during the past year, is leaving the district shortly on transfer to Wellington, and Mr Kelly paid a tribute to the able manner in which she had carried out the duties entrusted to her. I n every manner efficient service had been rendered, and it was with regret that the club noted the impending departure of Miss Macßeynolds, who was also a prominent player in the teams. A vote of thanks to Miss Macßeynolds was carried by acclamation. Subscriptions for the coming year are to be the same ns last year s. Several recommendations wore made for attention by the incoming committee.
