POHANGINA INSTITUTE.
Mrs J. Moar presided at the September meeting of the Pohangina Women’s Institute. It was decided to choose the delegates for the half-yearly conference at Feilding at the October meeting. At the next monthly meeting Mrs Dymock, of Palmerston North, will give one of her talks and bring a member from her institute to demonstrate the making of mops. The bring and buy stall in aid of the patriotic funds did brisk business, every article being sold. The competition for a mantel vase of spring flowers was judged by Mrs A. Shadbolt and Miss Klink. and resulted: Mrs Sinclair 1, Mrs Stuart 2, Mrs Drummond 3. Mrs G. Klink gave an interesting demonstration on a household decoration, making a useful and effective vase with a tin. putty arid broken pieces of china and heads as materials. The result was a substantia] vase capable of holding such heavy flowers as dahlias. Members were reminded about the bring and buy stall for October.
