BOMBING THREATS.

ITALIAN PRESS CAMPAIGN. ROME* June 9. The newspaper Giornale d’ltalia threatens that iive English cities will he bombed for every Italian city that is bombed.' It adds that a bombardment of Rome would be the signal for greater bombardment of London. Special measures are being taken throughout Italy to protect monuments and art treasures. The principal art galleries are closed and the pictures have been removed. A report by the Economic War Bureau emphasises Italian grievances against the Allied blockade, describing the blockade as intolerable. The semi-official review Relazioni Internazionali states, “On the eve of a solemn event for the Italian people it is opportune to recall for the benefit of Toreigners these simple final points: “.firstly, Italy and Signor Mussolini have for the past 18 years followed a revisionist poLcy of peace. “Secondly, Erance and Britain either openly or secretly have opposed this policy. j “Tmrdly, when the Italian people ask for soil to till they are - offered deserts, and when they want to settle the question of Abyssinia they are subjected to sanctions. “Fourthly. Erance and Britain have belittled everything Italian, both in their home and foreign policies. “Fifthly, this war must settle for the Italian people the outstanding territorial questions. Nice, Corsica, Tunisia and Djibouti must also be free from European domination by a nation who lias established a hegemony over and a monopoly in raw materials. “Sixthly, the Italian people must ensure for the nation and the empire independence on the seas. , . “This new’ war that the Italian people must make is a war of supreme independence.” MOVE TO FRONTIER. According to a Belgrade message it is reliably stated that Italian forces Rave moved to the French frontier front ( Frame. Consequently the Yugoslav War Ministry has released 120,000 reservists, though the frontier garrisons are being maintained at undiminished strength. Egypt has informed Britain that Italy has declared that she u’ill not infringe Egyptian frontiers in the event of her making war against the Allies, but the Premier to-day declared that Egypt will fulfil all her. obligations under her alliance with England. One thousand children are being evacuated to-morrow from Alexandria to the provinces. Seven hundred undesirables have been removed from the city and interned in Upper Egypt. A report from Malta states that the Italian air line is closing down and the employees, and other Italians are leaving Malta. The French' Resident-General in Tunis has warned the people by proclamation to be ready for all contingencies. To-night the Italian Government' passed two laws allotting a further sum of about £150.000.000. for the navy and the air force. The navy gets about £25,000,000 of this and the air force the re6t, and the expenditure is to be spread over" three or four years. The headquarters of the Italian Shipping Line in Genoa deny the New York report that the Line stated that all Italian ships in neutral ports had been ordered to suspend their sailings. and ships at sea had been ordered to neutral port 6.
