SOVIET WARNING

TO CERTAIN NATION. READY FOR ACTION. (United Press Assoeiation—By Eiectrie Telegraph.—Copyright.) Received June IU, b. 55 a.m. MOSCOW, 'June. 9. The radio stated that a certain nation profiting from the international situation = would like to extend its power in the Mediterranean by taking territory from small nations. “This nation should remember that some small nations have powerful friends. We are ready at any moment to prevent such moves, from whatever direction they come,” it added. In view of a complete absence of reference to Italy’s refusal to continue the negotiations on the questions arising from the blockade, a solution to which was-thought to have been reached, it is doubted in London if the complaints by Signor Gayda in the Voce d’ltalia are seriously advanced, states a British Official Wireless report. Signor Gayda’s statement that “Italy’s most conciliatory proposals for more reasonable treatment were not taken into account” is a flat contradiction of the facte. The Italian Government’s complaints were the subject of a discussion between British and Italian experts, and after the visit to Rome of Sir Wilfred Greene (Master of the Rolls) it was confidently believfed from the British side that an agreement had been reached. This belief was destroyed by Italy’s repudiation of the agreement which was reached between the experts.
