CANADIAN RESOLVE.
BRIDGING TWO WORLDS. OTTAWA, June 8. The Prime, Minister (Mr Mackenzie King), in a broadcast, said: “Every port will become another Calais and every harbour another Dunkirk before we will surrender to Nazi brutality.” He warned that hostilities may break out in “entirely new theatres of war,” but, he asserted, “end and old friends will rise to help us. • /“We are on a bridge between the Old and New Worlds, a bridge which joins the freedom of the North American Continent with the ancient freedom of Britain whien gave it birth. We will stand resolute to defend its approaches and abutments.” The Department of Munitions Supply announces the construction of 30(1 heavy armoured tanks for use by Empire tank troops.. They will be similar to. those at present used in Europe, and will weigh 37 tons. The British Ambassador (Lord Lothian) in a speech at 'Pittsburgh, said: “Britain needs destroyers, anti-air-craft guns and machine-guns as 'well as aeroplanes. That is why anything the United. States can givens n,ow may mean the difference between winning and losing the war. We lost almost ail our equipment in Flanders.” \
