EIRE TO RESIST.
DANGER OF INVASION. < Received June 6, 11.10 a.m. DUBLIN. June 5. The Minister of Defence (Mr 0. Traynor), in the Dail. said : “Only days are left for preparation. The situation is undoubtedly grave. Every man enrolling is now much more valuable than those enrolling after the disaster has struck us. If this nation dies I am sure very few of us want to live. 1 ’ v The Deputy-Leader of the Opposition (Mr Dillon) said': “I believe Eire is in immediate danger of invasion, which should be resisted to the utmost. I am aware that certain persons last week made representations that, in the event of invasion, Eire should follow Denmark’s example. Such a suggestion is ignoble and disgraceful. “Ireland’s submission would promptly provoke a counter-invasion by other powers and result in the country being converted into a battlefield. The people would be destroyed between the two forces.”
