NINE; HOSPITAL SHIPS. RUTHLESS ATTACKS. CONTEMPT FOR HUMANITY. (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) (British Official Wireless.) Received June 6, 10.30 a.m. RUGBY, June 5. The Parliamentary Secretary to the Admiralty (Sir Victor Warrender),. in the House of Commons, stated that nine hospital ships had been bombed, shelled or machine-gunned . by the enemy, and tvi\o on more than one occasion. ■ These attacks had been made despite the vessels’ distinctive and unmistakeable marking, and in contempt 'of the lives of the wounded and the doctors and nurses tending them. .•. V /• i; i.. ; . \ ' The hospital ship Atlantic was bombed no fewer than five times in Norwegian waters. The only sinking was the hospital carrier Paris on June 2, which succumbed to three separate waves of attack by bombers. The hospital carrier Brighton was holed, and ran aground, and the'hospital carrier Maid of Kent was set on fire.
