ITALIAN PREPARATIONS. Received June 5, 1.10 p.m. ROME, June 4. The Cabinet has voted an undisclosed sum for the construction of a new warship and extended the war preparations to the African Empire. A London message says the British United Press Rome correspondent says telephone communication between Italy and France has been suspended. A Washington message says that the President’s secretary (Mr S. Early) said Mr Roosevelt was continuing “correspondence” with Signor Mussolini, vbut he declined to discuss its nature. He refused to answer a question whether he believed Mr Roosevelt’s messages have deterred Italy’s entrance into the war.
