A RECIPE.
Chop 4 large apples into dice and fry them in 1 tablespoon butter. Add 1 heaped tablespoon brown sugar, cook a little longer, "then add 4 oz chopped dates, a little grated lemon rind, nutmeg, or ground cinnamon. Roll out lib suet crust about 1 inch thick, spread with mixture, roll up and place in a well-greased nut loaf tin, cover top with greased paper, and steam for two hours. Turn out carefully £(lid serve with a plain sweet sauce.
