NARVIK OPERATIONS.

NAZI DESTRUCTION. PARIS, June 1. The Norwegian High Command announces that after the capture of Narvik mopping up operations are continuing eastward along the railway. The Norwegian News Agency says the port of Narvik is now a veritable forest 'of mastheads and funnels of ships sunk by’ the Germans. Before fleeing eastwards they demolished all the quays and factories, about 60 private houses and, finally, every railway engine. The destruction cost about £55,000 daily in. the last few days. Never has a.u occupation been more unsuccessful politically and morally than Germany’s at Narvik and never lias a small country longed more eagerly for liberation. “Our Narvik detachments maintained their positions against strong attacks and our troops advancing from Trondheim broke the enemy’s resistance northward of Fauske (Central Norway),” states a German communique.
