VIRTUALLY A PRISONER. LONDON, June 1. The Rome radio announces that King Leopold has arrived at the Royal Palace at Laeken.- Hitler has ordered that King Leopold be received with the honour due to a sovereign. A Paris message says that King Leopold is now at Wynendael Castle, near Bruges. He is virtually a prisoner and not allowed outside the grounds. A committee comprising leading Belgian professors has issued a manifesto condemning King Leopold’s “abominable treason” and proclaiming support for the Belgian Government’s continuance of the struggle on the side of the Allies. The Petit Journal says that, besides troops under the command of General De Krae a Belgian force under. General Desfontaines is 1 fighting alongside the Allies in Flanders. A Belgian communique, issued at Limoges, says that two Belgian corps, which refused to surrender after King Leopold’s defection, have continued fighting and have succeeded in joining ’the British forces. Only 150 of the 203 members of "the Belgian Chamber of Representatives are now in France, so it is not impossible to obtain the two-tliirds majority necessary for changes in the Constitution.
