MELODY DANCE CLUB.

Oil Saturday evening the melody Dance Club held the usual weekly oldtime and modern, dance in the Empire Hal], organised and owned by Miss W. It. Hubbard. A gay crowd in holiday mood filled the hall to capacity ; visitors were present from many parts, including members of the various military and air forces, also Mr and Mrs "W. J. Jordan (Mr Jordan was in Palmerstoii North from Trentliam on week-end leave) and Mr J. Carr (an ex-committee member) from Fort Dorset. A professional orchestra played a succession of rhythmic numbers that had all the couples in the hall on 'their feet from the first bars. All appreciative item was given by Miss Zona Broughton (a pupil of Miss P. Over), a novelty tap dance. She was prettily attired in a frock of white stiffened net trimmed, with hands and cap. Her item was epcored. A presentation was made to Miss Broughton by the M.C. on behalf of Miss Hubbard. The duties of M.C. were very attentively carried out by Mr Howard York. An announcement was made regarding the old-time and modern dance to be held on Monday evening in the Empire Hall by the Melody Dance Club. There will be an excellent novelty programme including the commencement of the Mana-

watu championship waltzing competition. A qualified judge has been engaged and valuable prizes will be presented to the winners. Particulars of this dance are advertised elsewhere in this issue. : ■ ,
