Problems of accommodation which beset tne Palmerston North Technical nigli School were personally investigated. yesteruay by tlie Minister of Education (non. H. G. R. Mason), who, as reported yesterday, visited tne city in company witli Dr C. E. Beeby (Director of Education), Mr E. J. Parr .Chief Inspector ot Secondary Schools) and Mr F. C. Kenyard (Superintendent of Technical Education). One of the main activities of the day was an inspection of an area of land in Rangitikei Street beyond I eatherstou Street from the viewpoint of its suitability as a technical school site, and attendant details were fully investigated and discussed. One of the matters of importance was the effect of a school there in the light of the town planning scheme being developed by the City Council and the Kairanga County Council to embrace the whole district surrounding the Milson railway deviation. . Prior to the inspection the Minister and the other members of the Ministerial party visited the present Technical High School buildings, making a thorough inspection of them, the facilities there both within the buildings and in the grounds, while the Grey Street grounds were also visited. No statement as to possible policy was ■made bv the Minister. The party also inspected the buildings and grounds of the Boys’ High School, and also visited the Girls’ High School. The party also proceeded to the Intermediate School now being built in Ferguson Street and passed through it, making a keen inspection of the building. Later, the visitors returned to Wellington by car. In Palmerston North the party were met by Messrs M. H. Oram (chairman of the High Schools Board of Governors), A. A. Lamdey (a member of tlie board), L. I. Plimmer (secretary), H. M. Scott (director of the Technical School) and J. Murray (rector of the Bovs’ High School). When tlie party visited the site in Rangitikei Street, Mr J. R. Hughes (the city engineer) was in attendance.
