IDEA OF COALITION

DEPRECATED BY MINISTER. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, May 13. “There is not an earthly reason why there should be a coalition Government in this country.” said the Minister of Finance, (Hon. W. Nash), in a speech to-night. “The Opposition in Parliament has done splendid work since the war began. Its members have gone round the country setting out the case in the same way as we have set it out. While there is no truce as far as social legislation is concerned we are one body in fighting this war. I do not think there is a chance of the Leader of the Opposition and his associates doing anything except putting all their knowledge and ideas at the disposal of the Government for fighting this war.” .
