(From Our Own Correspondent.) TIA KIT A H UNA, May 13. At. the monthly meeting of the \\omens Institute Miss E. McEwcn presided. Apologics for absenco were received from the president, Mrs H. N. McEwen and Mrs Fell. An interesting report on the fedora t.ion meeting was road. Two new numbers of the committee were elected, Mrs \V. McEwen, and Mrs T. Hawke. Mrs D Rowland was elected to take charge ot the patriotic stall. An interesting talk on native flora'and Maori customs was given by Mr J. H. Stevens, of Palmerston North, and afterwards Mr Simmons, a member of tho Blind Institute, gave a short address. The competition for apple shortcake was won by Miss M. Rowland with Mrs F. McEwen second and Mrs W. McEwen third. The. best bloom was won by Mrs I>. Rowland 1, Mrs N. P. Nielsen 2, Mrs Crouehcr 3; vegetable, Miss E. McE\ven 1, Miss Hcarsey 2, Miss Rowland 3. The hostesses wero Mesdamcs J. A. Mitchell, IV. McEwcn and F. McEwen. Members of the St. Andrew’s Bible class were entertained by tho local Bible class students at a social. - Addresses were delivered by Rev. A. Baxter and Rev. Mr Martin. Games and competitions were held. Mrs 11. McEwen is visiting her sister, Mrs Paul, of Wellington. Mr and Mrs Rogers, of New Plymouth, are the guests of Misses Mathoson. Messrs V. Maffey and V. Bellamy, of Hinudra, have been staying with Mr and Mrs M. Richardson. Mr G. Row-land has returned from Ohan. Miss Mochan has left for • Auckland, whore she is taking up a position as infant mistress at the Takapuna School.
