POSITION IN SOUTH. Per Press Association. DUNEDIN, May 12. With the advent of fine weather yesterday the level of the Taieri River fell sharply and the flood water which had inundated the surrounding plain was able to get awny steadily for the first time for three or four days. In the south-western districts also there has been a fall in the level of the flood waters, and householders in the Henley and Otokia. areas were able on Saturday to start cleaning up . Stock losses are likely to be .very heavy in certain districts as few farmers in the parts flooded worst escaped losing numbers of 6heep and cattle. The main roads tin al' • districts are now clear and train services on the Duriedin-Invercargin line will resume their normal running to-morrow.
