MOTHERS’ DAY.

RESULT OF ROSE SALES. The annual sale of roses for Mothers’ Day was held in Palmerston North yesterday when, in spite of most unfavourable weather the sum of £4O 10s was raised for the . Mayor’s fund for the relief of mothers and children. Some small sums are still to come in and the result is very gratifying to the willing band of ladies concerned and to the members of women’s organisations who made the roses. Although it was announced that any silver coin would he- accepted, the majority of contributions were of one shilling or more, signifying real sympathy with the many unfortunate but deserving cases which have to depend on the Mayor’s fund for help. ■ ■
