STARR-BOWKETT SOCIETY.

INTEREST-FREE LOANS. - The monthly meeting of the Palmerston North Co-operative Building Society was held on Wednesday, Mr F. Jackson presiding. Other directors present, were Messrs M. A. Eliott, S. W. Rapley, D. F. Smillie, H. Christmas and H. Findlay Wilson. Ballots for return of subscriptions were held in Group 6, the successful member being Mr R. A. Noedl, Sydney. Ballots for interest-free loans were held in groups 7,8, 9, and 10, the successful members being Mrs M. F. Brenkley (Norsewood), £100; Mrs D. Manion (Palmerston North), £300; Mr J. B. Gerrand (Palmerston North), £600; Mrs L. Upton (Petone), £3OO, and Mr R. T. Dawick (Palmerston , North), £SOO. A number of loans were approved on tlie valuer’s report and applications for return of subscriptions from three members going on active service were approved lu tin- general department three loans totalling £2350 were approved Subject to satisfactory reports from the valuer.
