VACANCY IN WESTERN RIDING. MR W. S. PAGE ELECTED. At yesterday’s poll in connection with the" vacancy on the Oroua County Council (Western Riding) caused by the resignation of Cr O. McElrOy, Mr W. S. Page, of Haleombe, secured a decisive victory. There were three candidates in the field, the other two being Messrs •D. W. Reid and J. H. Mason; The returning officer (blr R. L. Harding) announces the following result of the poll:

Mr Page secured 59 votes at the Stanway booth, 149 at Haleombe and 66 at Feilding; Mr Reid polled 2 votes at Stanway, 10 at Haleombe and 33 at Feilding; and Mr Mason, polled 3 at Stairway, 1 at Haleombe and 6 at Feilding.
