EXTRACTS FROM “STANDARD.” MAY, 9 1910. Mr G. White, was calling a meetingin connection with the formation of a Trotting Club in this district. A comedy company was to present two plays, “The Night of the Party,” and “What Happened to Jones” in Palmerston North. A London cable slated that King Edward first became ill at Biarritz (Spain) during his tour of that country. He suffered ail attack of bronchitis and complications set in soon after liis return to London. A later message stated that the funeral was to take place at Windsor on May 20. As a mark of respect to the late King Edward, all the shops in Palmerston North closed for two hours on the Saturday evening from five o’clock to seven o’clock.
