RONGOTEA.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) RONGOTEA, May 8.

The monthly meeting of the Rongotea Young Farmers’ Club was presided over by Mr J. 11. Gibbons, on Monday evening. Associated with him were Mr 11. J. Lancaster (advisory president) and Mr Gleason (secretary). Apologies lor absence wore received from Messrs L. 11. Yurrall, J. P. Gloyn and M. Huddleston. Two new members, Messrs B. Vallonder and S. Hughes, were elected. The chairman extended congratulations to Mr Lancaster on being re-elected patron of the Manawatu executive of the Young Farmers’ Club, and also to Mr R. O. Gloyn on being elected to the position of chairman, and said that the club felt very proud of their two representatives. Congratulations were also extended to Messrs R. Hill and M. Lind on the success they achieved at the recent Wellington Council stock judging competition, held at Mnrton. Mr Ilill judged the Clydesdale horses and Mr Lind the baconer pigs. The Rongotea B tug-of-war team readied the semi-final at the Bunnyfhorpe patriotic gathering held last week, and the chairman complimented them on their performance... It was decided to ask Mr Bailey, of the Department of Agriculture, to address the next meeting'' of the club, and a welcome is to be extended to outside enthusiasts. The subject will bo “Parasites in Hoggets and Calves,” and will he of much importance to all farmers. The balance-sheet of the recent flag 500 and dance gathering disclosed a credit of nearly £3, and it was decided to make the amount up to £4 and donate it to the Patriotic Fund. Mr If. de O. Chamberlain, of the Department of Agriculture, displayed three very educational films dealing with the importance of farming in relation to the clothing and feeding of the people of the world. At the conclusion of the address Mr R. Hill moved a very hearty vote of thanks to Mr Chamberlain, who took the opportunity to congratulate the club on its success in the Efficiency Cup. Messrs J. Gibbons, J. McTayish, H. Hunt, J. Teaz, J. Scott, R. Tew, and E. Dear left on Wednesday to join the party of Mar.swatu Young Farmers, who are touring the South Island.
